Our commitment to the environment
Corporate sustainability has become a central theme for modern businesses, as it represents a strategic approach that integrates economic, social and environmental considerations into the decision-making process.
We were born more than 50 years ago with a sustainable product, gummed paper, and since then we have always been committed to a path that makes sustainability one of our corporate values. Let’s find out together what we do to help the environment.
How do we try to be sustainable?

Sustainable product choices
FABO’s sensitivity towards the environment is clearly evident through some important choices in terms of product development.
The ECOTOP line includes gummed paper tape in all its variants: smooth and reinforced.
The gummed paper tape also called Water Activated Tape is a totally recyclable tape because it is made of natural substances that allow for its total recycling: paper (cellulose) and vegetable glue (corn or potato starch).
The ECOPLUS line includes:
- Hot melt and acrylic adhesive tapes with 90% recycled PET backing (390PCR and 290PCR)
- Smooth paper (435HM) and glass fibre reinforced (455HM) packaging tape, FSC certified
- Acrylic tapes produced with water-based adhesive, 100% solvent free, i.e. free from harmful solvents, INGEDE certified
- Hot melt tapes, INGEDE certified
- Masking tapes, FSC certified.
Solar panels and trigenerator
Since 2013, the roof of our factory has been equipped with a photovoltaic system with a capacity of 196 kW, which reduces the carbon footprint by approximately 92 tons per year, equal to 9.9% of the total emissions due to purchased electricity. Since 2020, a 1MW trigeneration system has been installed: it allows the combined self-production of electrical, thermal and cooling energy. The installation of the trigenerator has brought about an energy saving of 25% compared to previous years.
Through a photovoltaic system and trigenerator, Fabo is able to self-produce approximately 90% of the energy consumed. An important step in terms of industrial efficiency.

Reusing our waste
We believe that production waste represents more of an opportunity than a cost. This is why we collaborate with companies specialized in the recovery of our waste materials and their transformation.
How does it work? Our waste is used to obtain regenerated compounds certified according to the PSV Certification (Second Life Plastic) and we are provided with the codes of the materials in which our waste is used. Each batch of regenerated compound is accompanied by a REACH dossier, which documents the origin of the waste, the manufacturing process and the final characteristics of the product. In this way we give life to products such as vegetable crates or pallets entirely in recycled plastic.
Electric cars
In 2021, company cars were replaced with hybrid technology cars, equipping the company car park with special charging stations. In terms of transport, for us it represented a further step on the road to reducing Co2.

Solvent recovery plant
In 2015, a solvent recovery plant was introduced that allows us to recover 94% of the hydrocarbons used. In fact, we recover toluene, used during hot-melt coating, and the colors we use for printed ribbons. Finally, we also reduce vapors during the pre-printing process through a purification plant.
